Clinical Observation of B.C.G. Complication

Abstract
|
|
|
The Swedish Save the Children Federation performed B.C.G. vaccination to all children under 5 years of age in Pusan area from May 1966 to Aug. 1967, and obtained the following results as complication.
1) Complicat:oa was seen in 254 children among the total 116,986 vaccinated cases shoving th rate of 0.21%.
2) In the direct \accination group, without tuberculin test, the incidence was 0.54%, and in the indirect group, with tuberculin test, 0.04%
3) Regional lymphadenitis was most conirnon (92.5%), and secondary bacterial infection of the vaccination site was 7.3%. There was also a case of skin eruption.
4) Complication was seen mostly within 2 to 3 months after iacoiaation, and 10 cases n 6 months.
5) Twenty-one cases were put to bacterial cuiture from infected site resulting in 2 cases of positive A.F.B. Chest mass x-rays were checked in 42 cases, among which 3 cases showed nilar lymphadenitis.
